Setting The Bar For Sustainable Clothing Brands
In recent years, apparel brands across the board – from Gucci, to Patagonia, and H&M – have recognized the need for more sustainable practices to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change. Many of these brands have announced ambitious plans to achieve decarbonization within the next ten to fifteen years, well ahead of the 2050 deadline set by the Paris Agreement.
These long-term plans provide essential structural examples and much-needed visibility on the issue of reducing carbon emissions in the textile industry. However, with 3.6 billion people now living in areas highly susceptible to the worst effects of climate change, the time to implement a sustainability strategy that’s both immediately actionable and measurable is now (1).
Recognizing this urgency, Everywhere has partnered with The Change Climate Project (TCCP) to measure, reduce, and offset our carbon emissions throughout our entire value chain. We’re translating our core values of transparency, responsible sourcing, and minimizing environmental impact into direct, measurable actions.
We’re proud to announce that Everywhere is officially recognized as a Climate Neutral Certified company by TCCP.
How Everywhere Achieved Climate Neutral Certification
Our guiding principle has always been to produce the highest quality clothes from recycled cotton, minimizing the environmental impact of each garment we manufacture. This commitment earned us the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) Certification, ensuring every T-shirt, hoodie, and garment from Everywhere Apparel is crafted from GRS-certified recycled cotton.
Minimization was just the beginning. Working with TCCP to meet the Climate Neutral Certified Standard (CNCS) provided a framework for our recycled cotton apparel to achieve a zero-impact value chain.
To achieve climate neutral certification, we first took a detailed inventory of emissions and energy usage directly and indirectly related to our manufacturing processes, as well as our supply chain. Based on this data, we developed and implemented a carbon reduction action plan to continuously reduce emissions over the next two years.
Our Commitment to Global Decarbonization Efforts
To extend the impact of our internal decarbonization efforts, we’ve made meaningful investments in global projects that aim to increase carbon capture or reduce reliance on carbon-based energy sources.
For example, we’re proud to support the Borneo Peatlands Project, one of the largest intact peat swamp forests in Indonesia, capable of storing up to 20 times more carbon than a typical forest, and the Gujarat State Wind Farm in India.
Sustainable Clothing Brands are the Future of Fashion
Everywhere Apparel’s Climate Neutral Certification represents a significant milestone in our commitment to leading the charge toward 100% sustainable clothing brands. The certification positions us within a global movement with over 300 other Climate Neutral Certified companies.
Each of these companies shares the goal of decarbonizing industries and mitigating the negative impacts of climate change. By joining this essential climate-focused initiative, Everywhere Apparel amplifies its efforts to enact concrete, tangible improvements across various sectors.
This involvement with the Climate Neutral movement showcases our unwavering dedication to realizing sustainable business practices in the apparel industry, and aligns Everywhere with growing consumer demand for verifiably sustainable products (2). Today's consumers are increasingly conscious of environmental issues and are keen to support brands that prioritize transparency and responsibility in their environmental impact.
The evolving consumer demand for sustainable products creates both a significant opportunity as well as existential necessity for apparel brands.
